Prompt for today is to write a poem about a mythical person or creature doing something unusual – or at least something that seems unusual in relation to that person/creature. For example, what does Hercules do when he loses a sock in the dryer? If a mermaid wants to pick up rock-climbing as a hobby, how does she do that? What happens when a mountain troll makes pancakes?

Here’s my take:

A Zombie Affaire

Zack, the zombie finally got a date

With none other than a mermaid

As excited Zack was,

He checked himself in mirror

And to his surprise,

He screamed in horror!

He booked himself a spa,

For he wanted to look his best,

Some manicure, some pedi,

And facial to attest

For hours Zack, the zombie,

Got himself groomed

Some rubbing, some scrubbing

Some enticing perfume

And here he was,

Looking perfect for the date,

But to his utter dismay,

Came these words from mermaid

“You aren’t the one I chose to date!”

I thought you were a zombie,

but you are a gorgeous mate,

I’m sorry buddy, to cancel our date”

Poor Zack, the Zombie changed himself

And now he couldn’t even recognize himself!
